Bay Bridge Railway

This railway was the Key System, the Sacramento Northern and the Southern Pacific Electric using tracks accross the Bay Bridge to San Francisco. Service started on January 15, 1939 and ended April 20, 1958. The Sacramento Northern Railway and the Southern Pacific Electric stopped running trains in 1941. The trains ran on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge and terminated at the Bay Bridge transit terminal at 1st & Mission Streets. The building is used by busses today.

These photos were take at the end of Bay Bridge rail service, just before the track was removed and the terminal was converted for bus use.
